In a world dominated by Donald Trump, Snapchat, and internet comments, sometimes it's nice to get blisters on your hands. "The Bridge" was born five years ago with one quarter-pipe on an empty, forgotten slab under the 471 interstate in Newport, Kentucky. With no public funding or experience in construction or skatepark building, "The Bridge" is now a full park. After watching YouTube videos, talking with people who actually do construction, and a lot of trial and error, the crew is now laying block, setting rebar, and troweling transitions as a fully functioning, volunteer team. Roll call is Saturday at 9am, pouring begins at 10, and beers arrive at 11:30.
